Come on (Irene)?

So at almost the last possible moment I've decided to join up with the goodnight  Irene sew along over at Terry's Treasures
 http://terrytreasures.blogspot.com/?m=0

The January goal was to complete 5 blocks
so tonight I cut my fabric and chain pieced
like crazy

And after much frantic sewing I have my first 5
blocks!

And Jack was such help ;)

End of the blues

This week I've been working on a few projects

I finished my flimsy for "Jack's Jack"

I've very slowly been working on a scrappy trip quilt called "Stay-cation" this week I did a block for it in blues as my RSC14 project for the week

Check out what others are doing with blue scraps at

hopefully we find out the new colour soon I'm running out of ideas;)

I'm working on a Folly Beach (Charleston, SC) inspired sampler quilt. I made two of Angela's sampler blocks (the split pinwheel) and (54-40 or fight) for it and they came out pretty well. Hopefully she doesn't mind I'm not doing them in rainbow colours.

I like the idea of having all different sized blocks in my sampler quilt so I'll probably make more of these as they strike my fancy,  hopefully it comes together in life as it has in my mind ;)

 Happy Quilting!

HST and a Jack

I found out my doll quilt partner received the quilt I sent her called "Stay in Wonderland" so I thought I'd share it here
The finished version as well as Jack testing it out before the binding was added

This week I've been working on 2 projects one is my "Love is like a Butterfly" quilt for the Rainbow Scrap Challange which you can check out at

 http://superscrappy.blogspot.com

I decided to make more HSTs for it so I chain pieced
a few more
Trimmed them down

And ended up with 32 total blue/white HSTs

The other quilt I've been working on is
called
"Jack's Jack" as it will be a Union Jack for a cat called
Jack the Lad so far I've cut out all the pieces
and have foundation pieced 3 of the 4 sections
of the flag
I even had a red London themed FQ just waiting to be used!
I got the pattern from the jan/ feb 2014 issue of McCall's Quilting magazine.

Have a great week and happy quilting!

The elusive double rainbow

Last week I showed my progress on my HST quilt that has come to be known as "Love is like a Butterfly"
I'm a huge Dolly Parton fan and I could not resist a quilt with butterflies and in rainbow scraps being named as such

I still have to square up my HSTs from last week and I may decide to make the quilt larger in which case I'll need to sew a few more anyway; but for this week I decided to work on my "Charming Rainbow" quilt it is from flutter.kat's blog

I have used charm squares instead of the 4 in ones that she calls for but otherwise I've followed her plan

I had started this quilt last year but it is to easy  to follow along with the colour of the month when it works out :)

Here is my blue charming rainbow block

Here are my 3 blocks laid out together

To see how everyone is doing with the scrappy projects thy chose!

Rainbow quilt is a-go!

Today is the first scraphappy Saturday of 2014 over at <http://superscrappy.blogspot.com/2014/01/first-scraphappy-saturday-of-2014.html?m=1>

This is my first time participating and I'm really enjoying it so far
I've decided on a plan and made a mock up on my computer with my
EQ5 software
I've got all colours of half square triangles with appliquéd butterflies
added at the end. I'm really hoping I can accomplish this design because
I love how it looks on the screen!

The first step was finding the scraps
I need to make 20 or 22 blocks each month to finish by years end
This time I did 20 which meant I needed 10 blue charm squares and
10 in white

Here's what I ended up with

Hope everyone's scrappy projects are turning out great
Happy new year!
